Biografie - Lebenslauf
Geboren 1946 in Lüdenscheid. Studierte Germanistik und Philosophie in Bonn, anschließend Kunst an der Hochschule für bildende Künste in Kassel. Danach arbeitete er als Lehrer in Hamburg. 1976 erhielt er den deutschen Jugendbuchpreis für sein Bilderbuch " Heute wünsch' ich mir ein Nilpferd" (Insel Verlag - Frankfurt).
1977 brachte er als erster deutscher Zeichner farbige Cartoon-Postkarten auf den Markt. 1978 gab Schlote den Lehrerberuf auf und ging nach Paris und blieb dort 16 Jahre. 1994 kehrte Schlote nach Deutschland zurück. Heute lebt Schlote wieder in Frankreich.
Neben seiner freien Mitarbeit für diverse Zeitschriften ("Zeitmagazin","Stern", "Brigitte", "Architektur und Wohnen", verschiedene französiche Zeitschriften) arbeitete er u.a. mit dem Bildhauer César, dem Zeichner Roland Topor, der Modemacherin Sonia Rykiel und dem Comic-Zeichner Frank Margerin.
Auch die Industrie endeckte Schlotes Skribblestrich. McCain,BMW,Mazda, 4711,Visa,DKV, Willi Wiltmann, Brandt Zwieback, Gizeh, Wella, Allianz,Köstritzer Bier, Alsen AG, Bundesverband der Landschaftsgärtner, Bundesverband Baustoffe aus Kohlekraftwerken,LEG, Landesgartenschauen, usw.
